Day 1015

1/ The House approved a resolution to formally authorize and set ground rules for its impeachment inquiry into Trump. The resolution passed 232-196 almost entirely along party lines and outlines how the House will make the investigation more public, authorizes the House Intelligence Committee to release transcripts from past interviews, and gives Republicans the right to call witnesses, though those requests are subject to approval by Democrats. Before the vote, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said "Today, we are further down the path of our inquiry," calling it a "sad day," because "nobody comes to Congress to impeach a president." Minutes after the vote, the White House press secretary denounced the resolution as "a sham impeachment" and "a blatantly partisan attempt to destroy the president." Excuse me while I scream.

The Trump regime will allow anti-LGBTQ discrimination in all grants from @HHSGov, impacting federal funding for foster care, adoption, HIV & STI prevention, youth homelessness, & countless other public health initiatives.

They’re also effectively over-turning the #SCOTUS decision on same-sex marriage by eliminating the requirement that federally-funded organizations treat them as valid, & enacting this whole evil policy TODAY, the same day they announced it, to head off formal challenges.

But, of course…

President Trump has abandoned the idea of releasing proposals to combat gun violence that his White House debated for months following mass shootings in August, according to White House officials and lawmakers, a reversal from the summer when the president insisted he would offer policies to curb firearm deaths.

Trump has been counseled by political advisers, including campaign manager Brad Parscale and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, that gun legislation could splinter his political coalition, which he needs to stick together for his reelection bid, particularly amid an impeachment battle.

The president no longer asks about the issue, and aides from the Domestic Policy Council, once working on a plan with eight to 12 tenets, have moved on to other topics, according to aides who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private deliberations.

Same old, same old. :pensive:

News footage from an October 20, 2018, midterm election rally in Nevada shows indicted Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas standing behind President Donald Trump.

Parnas and his business partner and fellow Giuliani associate, Igor Fruman, are alleged by prosecutors to have illegally funded donations from foreign nations to Republican political campaigns in attempts to buy influence. They are also alleged to have aided Giuliani, the President’s personal attorney, in efforts to dig up political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden.

The video of the rally is the latest example of how the pair who had little record of donations to candidates before 2018, wielded their proximity to Giuliani and used political donations to gain access to the president and political campaigns. Photos and videos throughout 2018 and 2019 show the pair traveling with the former New York City mayor throughout the world and to political events across the country.

The footage was found by CNN’s KFile during a review of the travel and political activity of Giuliani, Parnas and Fruman.

Not a damning video, but one more piece of evidence showing how determinedly the now-indicted Parnas was pursuing the President.
