1/ Paul Manafort met with Robert Mueller's office as part of his cooperation agreement. Following his guilty plea last month to conspiracy against the U.S. and conspiring to obstruct justice, Manafort is required to cooperate "fully, truthfully, completely, and forthrightly…in any and all matters as to which the government deems the cooperation relevant." (Politico)

This could perhaps be classified as a “notable” rather than a big, breaking news story, but it is very interesting nonetheless. The case itself is intriguing, while the implications of this referral to the Mueller team are even more noteworthy.

We’ve heard time and again from Republicans that the Mueller probe is just on the verge of wrapping up. Every time they’ve made this claim over the past year, they’ve been wrong. And now this “under the radar” development demonstrates that any Republican making the claim today is most assuredly wrong once again. How can Mueller’s investigation be wrapping up if it continues to absorb other investigations?

This investigation being assimilated by Mueller’s team involves email hacking of a political operative who was feuding with Trump – could the hacking in this case be related to the Russian hacking of the DNC? It sounds like Mueller is going to find out.

Wonder if T thinks that all the reporting the NYT has done, is false? Yes, he has his lawyers out there…

Charles Harder, an attorney for the president, said in a statement to The New York Times that allegations of tax evasion are “100 percent false,” adding that Trump “had virtually no involvement” with the tax strategies used by his family, and instead delegated those tasks to others.

Harder went on to imply that the newspaper would face a defamation lawsuit if it suggested Trump participated in a fraudulent tax scheme.
