If they truly don’t want abortion, then do something to prevent unwanted pregnancies! The stupidity & cruelty just pisses me off.

Maybe its time to transplant a uterus to these men who want all these babies. (if only…)… except I think Alabama’s law is being pushed by a woman.

It’s been a hard couple weeks to be a woman living in the American South and working on climate change. THREAD. 1/13

On the planet front, the atmosphere is now choked with 415 parts per million of carbon dioxide—conditions the human species has never before faced. Earth hasn’t either, for roughly the last 3 million years. 2/13 (RollingStone article 415 )

Who knew? # ExxonKnew . Yes, they knew where we were headed back in 1982, the year before I was born. Makes Big Tobacco seem like child’s play. 3/13 (ThinkProgress article Exxon)

Non-humans aren’t faring so well either. 1 million species—SPECIES—are headed for extinction because of us. To say it’s mass genocide is not hyperbole. 4/13 ( Nature.com article)

And let me stem “humans first” critiques at the pass: A planet that doesn’t work for polar bears won’t work for us either. If we’re still peddling that dichotomy, we haven’t learned the first lesson about a climate changing world: separation is a myth, and a dangerous one. 5/13

All that’s enough to send a gal into tears, the arms of loved ones, and bourbon. And it has. 6/13

But that’s not all the bad news of late. Not by a long shot. We’ve watched state legislatures—strategically honed by the GOP—pass extreme and ruthless abortion bans. Including in my home state of Georgia, where I reside again. 7/13

Forget a woman’s health, her rights, or her life. She is but a vessel. Cue @ MargaretAtwood . 8/13

How did progressives on the coasts respond? “Boycott them! Boycott them!” How about: Show up in solidarity with folks on the frontlines of justice—with your dollars, your time, your love. Because running away is a luxury most of the women & girls in GA, AL, etc. don’t have. 9/13

Not to mention: They are coming for your rights across the US of A. If you think this assault stops at the border of the region you dismiss as Backwards, you’re sorely mistaken. See above: separation is a myth, and a dangerous one. 10/13

Then there’s the great, heart-wrenching irony of it all. There is no right to life without a livable planet. And a livable planet is an essential foundation for true reproductive justice. Earth is life. Life needs Earth. 11/13

25 white Republican men just voted to ban abortion in Alabama. I wish I could believe that was motivated by a reverence for life. I really do. Because if it were, we might have an opening. But it’s never been about life. It’s always been about power and profit. 12/13

And that’s why we are where we are. Power and profit continue to rule the day, on a burning planet with women’s bodies increasingly in chains. Sending y’all love and light, in a moment that feels so damn dark. 13/13/

Analysis of all the abortion bans across the states. This is very depressing and upsetting.

Today, a 58% majority of Americans say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 37% think abortion should be illegal in all or most cases. These views are relatively unchanged in the past few years. The latest Pew Research Center political survey finds deep disagreement between – and within – the parties over abortion. In fact, the partisan divide on abortion is far wider than it was two decades ago.

By a wide margin (59% to 36%), Republicans say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases. In 1995, Republicans were evenly divided (49% legal vs. 48% illegal).

Views among Democrats have shifted in the other direction over the past two decades. Today, 76% of Democrats say abortion should be legal in at least most cases. In 1995, 64% favored legal abortion in all or most cases.

(this belongs under Portrait of a President…but I am maxed out at 3 posts there)

You think???!

Recognize this trait?

“A person with narcissistic personality disorder will exhibit such traits as a “grandiose sense of self-importance,” “requires excessive admiration”

Top House Republicans who attended a presentation about China and trade on this week also received a psychological profile of President Trump.

Larry Lindsey, a former economic adviser to president George W. Bush who now runs a consulting business, was invited by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to give an overview of the U.S.-China trade war.

Lindsey also came prepared Tuesday with his own research on Trump’s character, telling Republican lawmakers that he had asked two psychologists to evaluate the president from afar. The professionals found that Trump was a “10 out of 10 narcissist,” Lindsey told the Republicans, according to a GOP aide present at the talk who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

“That’s what he scored,” Lindsey said, clarifying this wasn’t just his opinion.

Lindsey continued with more armchair psychology, diagnosing Trump’s behavior as a symptom of his upbringing and a mother who didn’t pay enough attention to him.

Biographers have struggled to build a full portrait of Trump’s mother, Mary, a Scottish immigrant who the president has described as a demanding woman with a stern Presbyterian faith and a love of pageantry and showmanship. Some executives who knew Trump in the early stages of his career said Trump’s mother spoiled him, yet she’s only a thinly described figure in Trump’s own retelling of his childhood.

Lindsey also compared Trump’s long-term planning ability to that of an “empty chair.”

The riff on Trump, first reported by Politico, lasted about two minutes as part of a longer presentation on China. Lindsey was otherwise complimentary about how Trump has handled the trade conflict.

Lindsey also shared a character analysis of Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling him a “sociopath.” He described the two nations’ standoff as “existential” and said neither country can win so the U.S. has to stay tough.

“It was actually an informative and interesting conversation,” the GOP aide said.

Members in attendance did not attempt to challenge Lindsey’s characterization of Trump, aides said.

A person with narcissistic personality disorder will exhibit such traits as a “grandiose sense of self-importance,” “requires excessive admiration,” “is interpersonally exploitative” and “shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes,” according to the American Psychiatric Association’s criteria for personality disorders.

Many mental health professionals have tried to diagnose Trump from a distance despite the APA’s “Goldwater rule,” prohibiting psychiatrists from assessing public officials if they did not evaluate them in person.

But some have challenged that rule, arguing it is their “duty to warn” the public if they determine there’s enough evidence to suggest Trump has a serious mental health issue. A petition to that effect was signed by 70,699 mental health professionals.

“I think most were a little taken aback but no one interrupted,” another GOP aide said. “I was surprised McCarthy didn’t since it was his guest.”

McCarthy’s spokesman Matt Sparks declined to comment.

“It was bizarre and very unclear why he was chosen to be an invited guest,” the second aide said. “It came out of nowhere. I assumed he was invited to talk about the economy but he went right into the whole psychoanalysis thing.”

Romney taking on the McCain mantle - lead on this with a conscious. But thank you for going that direction, despite the fact the judge was voted in.

Republican Sen. Mitt Romney broke with President Trump and the rest of his party Tuesday to oppose the confirmation of a federal judge who had referred to former president Barack Obama as an “un-American impostor.”

Romney (Utah) was the only voting senator to break ranks on a party-line vote to seat Michael J. Truncale on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Romney ran against Obama as the GOP presidential nominee in 2012.

The approved Truncale on a 49-to-46 vote, making him the 113th Trump-nominated judge to win confirmation.

Missouri’s Republican-led Senate has now passed a bill to ban abortions at eight weeks of pregnancy.

Senators approved the legislation 24-10 early Thursday with just hours left before a Friday deadline to pass bills. It needs at least one more vote of approval in the GOP-led House before it can go to Republican Gov. Mike Parson, who voiced support for it on Wednesday.

Parson called on state senators to take action, joining a movement of GOP-dominated state legislatures emboldened by the possibility that a more conservative Supreme Court could overturn its landmark ruling legalizing the procedure. Their vote came only hours after Alabama’s governor signed the most stringent abortion ban in the nation on Wednesday, making performing an abortion a felony in nearly all cases.

The Missouri proposal includes exceptions for medical emergencies, but not for pregnancies caused by rape or incest. Doctors would face five to 15 years in prison for violating the eight-week cutoff. Women who receive abortions at eight weeks or later into a pregnancy wouldn’t be prosecuted.

I propose that women who cannot get an abortion put a politicians name down as the person responsible for medical care &, if Male, put that name as the father on the birth certificate. Seems only fair since they are so concerned for these babies.

This story is wild, and includes this tidbit:

The documents contained proposals for several ways to further exacerbate racial discord in the future, including a suggestion to recruit African-Americans and transport them to camps in Africa “for combat prep and training in sabotage.” Those recruits would then be sent back to America to foment violence and work to establish a pan-African state in the Southern U.S., including South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

And here is video of utter clown and incompetent Ben Carson, Trump’s Housing Secretary, being schooled by Rep. Katie Porter over the difference between REOs (a basic real estate term) and Oreo Cookies.

Seriously. Ben Carson Thinks ‘REO,’ a Basic Housing Term, Is an Oreo Cookie

And here is further video if him getting destroyed by @RepBeatty as he confuses Amway with OMWI (Office of Minority Women and Inclusion)…

…even though she asked him about this a year ago.

This man was a brain surgeon. Was he his own patient?

Sigh. This story keeps getting dumber.

And here is Ben Carson refusing to answer yes-or-no questions for @RepPressley because he probably doesn’t know the answers, so she reclaims her time…

…and then he tries to do that. Which is not a thing non-congress members can do.
