What We Learned in the Trump-Russia Investigation: Week of Nov 19 – 25, 2017

Flynn was the biggest story this week:

  • Lawyers for Flynn informed Trump’s lawyers that they could no longer share information with them, a move that might indicate Flynn is now cooperating with Mueller. source
  • Mueller is investigating Flynn’s work on a documentary targeting exiled turkish cleric. Flynn tried to conceal his firm’s role in the film and the FBI is preparing to interview consultants that he hired. source
  • Flynn’s former business partner, Bijan Kian, is now a subject of Mueller’s probe for his role in the failure of Flynn’s former lobbying firm to disclose its work on behalf of foreign governments. source

Mueller sent wide-ranging request for documents to Justice Department, specifically directing the DOJ to turn over documents related to Comey’s firing and Jeff Session’s decision to recuse himself. source

Mueller is investigating Trump’s “disturbing choice to hand over highly sensitive intelligence to the Russians” both before and after the election. Of special interest is the Israeli intel Trump gave to Russian ambassador Kislyak during a meeting in the Oval Office. source

Mueller is investigating Jared Kushner’s Contacts with foreign leaders. His team has been asking questions about Kushner’s role in talks about U.N.’s resolution condemning Israel. source

Donald Trump Jr met with Alexander Torshin – a man with close ties to the Kremlin — at an NRA event in May 2016. Torshin had been trying to set up a meeting with then-candidate Donald Trump. source

An examination of Manafort’s flight records reveal deeper Kremlin ties than previously known. He took at least 18 trips to Moscow, meeting with various Putin allies for over a decade. source

There’s a new character in the story of the Trump Tower meeting. Roman Beniaminov, a low-profile real estate exec turned pop star manager, knew about Russia’s ‘dirt’ on Hillary. source

A Russian journalist spoke on record about instruction from the Kremlin on how to cover the 2016 election. The directive was clear: to show Donald Trump in a positive way & Clinton in a negative way. source
