21.1. Relationship with Trump

  • 3/21/2016 – Trump names Carter Page when questioned about who is on his foreign policy team, (He was previously a mostly unknown name) Source
  • 12/12/2016 – Page holds a conference in Moscow. Claims to know Trump. (Also speaks of Tillerson before Trump makes formal announcement in NY? Source
  • 3/2/2017 – Page was among Trump campaign members to speak with Kislyak at Rep. National Convention. Source
  • 3/7/2017 - Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski approved foreign policy adviser Carter Page’s now-infamous trip to Moscow last summer on the condition that he would not be an official representative of the campaign, according to a former campaign adviser. Source
  • 4/13/2017 - Lewandowski introduced Page to Trump campaign policy director Sam Clovis sometime in late 2015 or early 2016. During the brief encounter, which occurred in New York City, Lewandowski suggested that the two get to know each other. Page, the managing partner of Global Energy Partners, an energy consulting firm, would join the campaign as an adviser several months later. Lewandowski however denies ever meeting Page. Source

  • 4/3/2017 - Carter Page, met with a Russian intelligence operative named Victor Podobnyy, who was later charged by the US government alongside two others for acting as unregistered agents of a foreign government. The charges, filed in January 2015, came after federal investigators busted a Russian spy ring that was seeking information on US sanctions as well as efforts to develop alternative energy.   • 4/11/2017 - The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.
