NBC reporting that another potential individual stimulus check for $2000 to give to those Americans who earn less that $75,000. Looks like Trump is initiating it…and he may NOT sign the stimulus bill without this provision…

Congress has already voted and I believe are already on break. But ultimately Congress has veto power and could table what Trump wants.

Looks like Schumer/Pelosi are all in…give more. People need it.

TBD.

President Trump on Tuesday night asked Congress to amend the nearly $900 billion stimulus bill passed just one day before, describing the legislation as “a disgrace” and suggesting he would not immediately sign off on aid for millions of Americans.

In a video posted to Twitter, Trump called on Congress to increase the “ridiculously low” $600 stimulus checks to $2,000 and outlined a list of provisions in the overall package of legislation that he described as “wasteful spending and much more.” He did not mention that the $600 stimulus check idea came from his treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin.

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) also tweeted that he supported the idea of larger stimulus checks, but he blamed Republicans for preventing them from being included in the bill.

We spent months trying to secure $2000 checks but Republicans blocked it,” Schumer wrote.Trump needs to sign the bill to help people and keep the government open and we’re glad to pass more aid Americans need. Maybe Trump can finally make himself useful and get Republicans not to block it again.”

Logistically, though, it could prove difficult for Democrats and Trump to amend the bill and approve $2,000 checks in the next few days, or even weeks.

Pelosi has votes coming in to retain her speakership. Narrow margin, but newcomer - Rep Cori Bush (D-M) did vote for her. She’s now part of the Squad.

Nancy Pelosi is on track to be elected speaker of the House for the 117th Congress on Sunday, clinching the gavel for the fourth and — potentially last — time during the most chaotic and unpredictable season in Washington in a lifetime.

In a sign of just how delicate the vote count is, and with a recognition of the surging pandemic, House officials constructed a special plexiglass box in the chamber Sunday so that members who tested negative for the coronavirus but were quarantining after exposure — two Democrats and one Republican in this case — could still cast their vote.

The magic number Pelosi needs to secure the gavel remained a moving target Sunday. There are currently 222 Democrats and 211 Republicans in the new Congress, with two vacant seats. In addition, three members were absent and a handful of Democrats voted “present” or against Pelosi.

“This is a moment of great challenge here in America filled with trials and tribulation, with a lot of pain and suffering and death,” House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries said in his nominating speech for Pelosi. “Nancy Pelosi is a resilient leader. Brighter days are ahead in the United States of America.”
