1/ Gina Haspel said that "with the benefit of hindsight" torture was a bad idea and "one the CIA should have undertaken," in a letter to Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. The committee will vote on her nomination on Wednesday. She appears to have secured enough votes to be confirmed as the next CIA director after Warner signaled his support for Haspel. Is that the correct language? It doesn’t seem to make sense. Shouldn’t she have said that the “CIA should NOT have undertaken?”

Curious.

A person familiar with the Qatari delegation’s meetings at Trump Tower that day said, “There were several meetings that took place between the delegation and Trump transition officials. During one, Michael Cohen briefly popped in.”

Cohen just popped in so they could talk about adoptions. :smirk:

Manafort loses his bid to have charges dropped by US District Court…Full steam ahead.

A federal judge on Tuesday rejected an attempt by Paul Manafort, a former Trump campaign chairman, to get an indictment against him dismissed by claiming that special counsel Robert Mueller’s appointment was flawed.

In a blow to Manafort’s defense, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled that Mueller’s prosecution of the longtime political consultant on charges of money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent for a Ukrainian political party was “squarely” within the authority that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein granted to Mueller last May.

Amazing Gina Haspel takes that position Now. I believes the only thing she regrets is being “caught”; that torture is the only obstacle in her confirmation. The only thing she will change is the information that the public receives from the CIA.
