Day 566

Updated 8/8/2018 10:37 AM PDT

1/ Putin lobbied Trump on nuclear arms control, banning weapons in space, and several other issues during their private two-hour meeting in Helsinki last month, according to a leaked Russian document. Putin shared the document of proposed topics for negotiation with Trump during their two-hour conversation, which Trump's top advisers were not privy to at the time. Among the priorities, Putin wanted to extend an Obama-era nuclear-reduction treaty to ensure the "non-placement of weapons in space," which would hamper Trump's ability of establishing a Space Force. When a U.S. Senator shouts out an alarm like this, you know the situation is grave. Yet the Republicans continue to sit on their hands.

“They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about,” Nelson told the Tampa Bay Times. He said something similar a day earlier in Tallahassee but declined to elaborate.

“We were requested by the chairman and vice chairman of the Intelligence Committee to let supervisors of election in Florida know that the Russians are in their records,” Nelson told the Times on Wednesday.

"This is no-fooling time."

Nelson’s account was partly corroborated by two county officials, who said they heard a similar account at a private meeting with Rubio in May.

Rubio’s office did not respond to questions about Nelson’s remarks.

So Rubio, a Republican in a position to do something about this, has known about it since at least May, yet has done nothing and said nothing and continues to have no comment. Shame. Shame. Shame.

On Maddow MSNBC tonight.

Unbeknownst to Nunes, someone had recorded private comments at a fundraiser. They want Kavanaugh in, then impeach Rosenstein. If they can keep the majority.

Review of what maybe in Omarosa’s book “Unhinged,” from By Brian Stelter and CNN’s media team (nightly newsletter)

Who’s “Unhinged?”
Is former “Apprentice” star Omarosa Manigault-Newman a reliable source of info about the Trump White House? Buckle up for debates about that in the coming week. Because she’s about to betray Trump in a new tell-all book.

Omarosa’s recap of her time in the administration, “Unhinged,” comes out next week… And on Wednesday we found out what the press rollout will look like. Her first interview will be on “Meet the Press” this Sunday. Then she’ll be on “Today” Monday morning.

The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday that she “secretly recorded conversations with the president…” And she “leveraged” the tapes while shopping the book.

A source who has read “Unhinged” confirmed to me that “she has tapes documenting what she details in the book.” So, I asked, is Omarosa planning on sharing the tapes during her NBC interviews? The source said no…
Here’s my theory about the tapes
The Beast said the tapes are just “anodyne, everyday chatter” between Manigault-Newman and Trump. Nothing dramatic. But the tapes may prop up her tenuous credibility.

Think about it: The W.H. has already criticized her… Saying “she had limited contact with the president while here…” So if Trumpworld attacks her when the book comes out… perhaps by downplaying her relationship with Trump… she’ll be able to point to the tapes as proof that she WAS in the room with him…

REALITY CHECK: Above and beyond the NBC rollout, this book is going to get tons of attention from entertainment media outlets…

Couldn’t resist an encore of this New Yorker gem.

More links to what has been talked about. There could be some lying on Stone’s part, pushing stuff off to Credico…but it is a curious set up…their relationship w/ Assange, emails etc.

Look who just got served!

Special counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed Randy Credico to testify before a grand jury next month, according to Credico’s attorney.

Martin Stolar told CNN he received a subpoena Thursday and Credico intends to comply and testify on September 7.
Credico, a comedian and radio show host, will likely meet with Mueller’s team for a voluntary interview first. Credico previously declined a request from Mueller’s team for a voluntary interview.

From that NBC article,

Nunes also appeared to say that if a campaign received and released stolen emails from a foreign government — he used a hypothetical example of McMorris Rodgers getting secret information from Portugal, where his ancestors are from — there would be a criminal element to that.

"But ultimately let’s say the Portuguese came and brought her some stolen emails. And she decided to release those. Okay, now we have a problem, right?” Nunes said. “Because somebody stole the emails, gave 'em to Cathy, Cathy released 'em. Well, if that’s the case, then that’s criminal.”

This is speculation but wouldn’t Roger Stone be the connection between the Trump campaign and the Wikileaks Dump in Nunes’s hypothetical?

Yes…it seems that way. Roger Stone is the one that could be indicted next, as his conversations w/ Guccifer etc point to some sort of corroboration/collusion. And I think Nunes was just spelling out that there was probably a crime like this…ie, someone passed along these emails (Roger Stone facilitated this we think)

And further, it seems the way Nunes presents these comments, that he does know that there was some sort of illegal activity w/ said emails, but if we/R’s can just 1) get Kavanaugh 2) Impeach Rosenstein 3) keep our Republican majority that we/R’s can maintain our (corrupt - my word) power (and not impeach T) and keep doing what you wealthy R’s want us to do.

I think all the obvious points, like Roger Stone who we know had been a longterm R strategist, and a fervent Nixon supporter maybe the link to establish his knowingly release of the emails.

Ari Melber (MSNBC) does tweet what we are suspecting tonight…

Wow the @Maddow scoop on this new secret tape of Devin Nunes reveals:

  1. Nunes secretly wants another Rosenstein impeachment push — just after SCOTUS hearing

  2. Nunes admits foreign collusion on stolen email is a crime (A legal fact, but at odds with Trump legal team)

Here’s another link. This guy Randy Credico, who has long ties w/ Roger Stone and has interview Julian Assange on his radio show has been asked by Mueller’s team to be interviewed. Credico said no.

Mueller is circling the wagons around Roger Stone.
