Day 624

Updated 10/5/2018 11:46 AM PDT

1/ The Senate voted 51-49 to advance Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination. Republican Lisa Murkowski voted not to advance the nomination. She called the cloture vote "a mistake" and that Kavanaugh is "not the best man for the court at this time." Democrat Joe Manchin voted in favor. Confirmation is not assured as Sens. Susan Collins, Murkowski, and Manchin could vote differently during Saturday's final confirmation vote. Flake told reporters he would support Kavanaugh on the final vote, "unless something big changes." (New York Times / Washington Post / Politico / NBC News / Wall Street Journal)

SURPRISED???

@natashabertrand

.@RepSwalwell (in Devin Nunes’ hometown paper): Nunes buried evidence on Russian meddling to protect Trump. I know because I’m on the committee. https://www.fresnobee.com/opinion/op-ed/article219558065.html

Holy moly, sometimes I wonder who these people think they are. I do hope in the near future each and every one of them ends up on trial for obstruction.

On another note, I have no idea why toilet paper is news, but here we are.

Sadly this is where we are now, & I can’t say it any better than this N Y Times article does:

It boggles my mind because I absolutely cannot be bothered to care if someone has toilet paper on their shoe. And that stupid story took up valuable real estate that could have gone to something important.

Maybe because it is such an apt metaphor?

I’m sure many will be pleased to see the back of him. But it will take a heap more than a piece of toilet paper to wipe up the mess left behind.
