The confirmation hearings for ACB begin this week, and the Dems are hitting back hard. Requests for more of her paperwork asking why she signed a paid ad for a Right-to-life organization is just part of it.
Since 2 of the immediate Senate Judiciary committee, both Republicans are sidelined with Covid- Sen Lee and Sen Tillis, it is a off too a handicapped start. But Dems are also asking that Sen Graham get a covid Test as well, as he was part of the Nomination party w/ ACB.
As well as Kamala Harris saying the entire committee needs testing. Sen Harris requests all Judiciary Committee get Covid Testing
Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a letter to the Department of Justice on Sunday inquiring about materials that Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett left off paperwork initially filed with the Senate.
On Friday evening, Barrett submitted supplemental paperwork to the committee listing two talks she gave to anti-abortion students groups in 2013 in her capacity as a law professor at the University of Notre Dame. Both talks – first reported by CNN’s KFile – were only disclosed following CNN’s report, which Senate Democrats called “troubling” in their letter Sunday on the eve of Barrett’s hearings starting Monday.
Barrett also disclosed on Friday night a paid advertisement she signed in 2013 as a member of University Faculty for Life that criticized Roe v. Wade and reaffirmed support for Notre Dame’s "commitment to the right to life."
The advertisement was only disclosed after CNN asked the White House about it earlier Friday.
"First, Judge Barrett’s SJQ supplement includes two 2013 talks – a lecture and a seminar – about the Supreme Court’s cases on women’s reproductive rights," the letter says. "Both talks, which were also omitted from Judge Barrett’s 2017 SJQ and attachments, were made public in press reports early yesterday. It is troubling that Judge Barrett supplemented her SJQ to include these talks only after they were identified by the press."
The letter additionally asked Barrett to, “immediately supplement her SJQ to include any responsive materials generated as a result of her membership in Notre Dame’s Faculty for Life.”
“These new omissions raise more questions about the reliability of Judge Barrett’s SJQ and her candor before the Committee,” Democrats continued. “These new omissions also raise serious concerns about Judge Barrett’s rushed confirmation process and the hasty process of collecting materials responsive to the SJQ.”
And Sen Graham refused to get Covid Testing for Rep Harrison debate.
Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was asked if testing were appropriate before confirmation hearings set to begin Monday for Amy Coney Barrett, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court.
Noting he would adhere to federal requirements, Graham said those guidelines would dictate how the room would be set up and that testing every person would be unreasonable.
“I’m not going to live my life differently than you have to live yours,” Graham said, referencing average Americans who work next to colleagues daily who haven’t been tested.
“For those of you who work for a living, you can’t do what Mr. Harrison has demanded tonight,” he added.
But Sen Graham did very poorly in previous Rep Harrison debate, so it would benefit from not testing, and blaming it on something else.
