What We Learned in the Trump-Russia Investigation: Week of Nov 12 – 18, 2017

Kushner failed to disclose even more information to investigators

  • Despite testifying that he did not recall any contact between the Trump campaign & WIkileaks, Kushner received & forwarded an email from Donald Trump Jr. about contact Trump Jr. had with WikiLeaks. Kushner failed to inform any of the congressional committees about this. source
  • Kushner received emails from Sergei Millian, a Belarus businessman & an alleged dossier source who was in touch with George Papadopoulos. Kushner didn’t disclose the emails to investigators. source
  • Kushner received an email from a Russian national requesting a meeting with Donald Trump during the presidential campaign in May 2016. The same Russian was “eager for Mr. Trump to travel to Russia to meet with” Putin. Kushner did not disclose these emails to investigators. source

Donald Trump Jr. secretly corresponded with Wikileaks, beginning September 2016. Wikileaks asked for his cooperation—in sharing its work, in contesting the results of the election, and in arranging for Julian Assange to be Australia’s ambassador to the US. Donald Trump tweeted about the release of Podesta’s emails 15 minutes after Wikileaks wrote to Donald Trump Jr about it. source

Two Russian men who were at the Trump Tower meeting, Rinat Akhmetshin & Ike Kaveladze, met earlier this year in Moscow, weeks before the story about the meeting broke. Investigators suspect they were getting their story straight, and seek further questioning of both of them. source

Rob Goldstone, who has been living outside the US, is ready to talk to Mueller about his role in setting up the Trump Tower meeting w/ a Russian lawyer. source

In mid-October Mueller issued subpoenas for Russia-related documents from 12 Trump campaign officials (who were said to be “caught by surprise”). source

The FBI is investigating 60 money transfers sent by the Russian Foreign Ministry to its embassies across the globe, most of them bearing a note that said the money was to be used “to finance election campaign of 2016.” source
