Who The Fuck Has Left The Trump Administration

Sam Clovis, the former Trump campaign aide who had been serving as USDA’s liaison to the White House, is leaving the Agriculture Department and will return home to Iowa, a USDA official confirmed Thursday evening.

Clovis had endured criticism for months, but his withdrawal came shortly after he was swept up in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 campaign and the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russian interests. While serving on the campaign, Clovis had supervised George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser who struck a plea deal on charges he lied to FBI investigators about his communications with Russia-linked contacts. Clovis’ withdrawal followed shortly after news of Papadopoulos’ plea deal.

So Lisa Page and James Baker have left the FBI. Two of Comey’s top aides during the Clinton Email Scandal and the beginning of the Russia Counter-intelligence Investigation, who were lambasted over text messages that were not favorable to Trump.

She was assailed by conservatives after texts that she had exchanged with the agent overseeing the investigation into links between President Trump’s campaign and Russia were made public.

There’s a mystery here . . .

A high-ranking Department of Commerce official was escorted out of the department’s Washington, DC, headquarters by security last Thursday, according to three sources at the agency knowledgeable about the matter.

It is unknown why Elizabeth Erin Walsh was removed from the building, but the sources told BuzzFeed News that there’s an internal investigation underway that involves her, although they could not provide details about the nature of the probe.

Missed this one from April.

Rob Joyce, the White House cybersecurity coordinator, has announced he will return to the National Security Agency.

Now Bolton is considering removing the White House cybersecurity coordinator position altogether from the NSC. :woman_shrugging:t2:

The top White House official responsible for leading the U.S. response in the event of a deadly pandemic has left the administration, and the global health security team he oversaw has been disbanded under a reorganization by national security adviser John Bolton.

The abrupt departure of Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer from the National Security Council means no senior administration official is now focused solely on global health security. Ziemer’s departure, along with the breakup of his team, comes at a time when many experts say the country is already underprepared for the increasing risks of a pandemic or bioterrorism attack."

Since Trump took office, he has forced out unprecedented numbers of senior advisers, and more than 79,000 full-time employees have left government. The Administration sees these departures as liberating. Excellent long read, deep dive into Trump’s war on the “Deep State”.

@anon95374541 Thanks for Trump vs. the “Deep State” – stellar reporting. BTW, the author of this piece, Evan Osnos, was interviewed this evening by Joy Reid on the Rachel Maddow Show (2018-05-14) – an eye-opening segment! (This just aired so there’s no link for it yet, but I imagine one will be available soon on the MSNBC site.)

Osnos also discussed the article on Morning Joe (2018-05-14).

I wasn’t sure where to put this but I know the moderators will know. As usual the New Yorker has done a lot of in-depth reporting for this article on how the Trump administration is taking apart the civil service below the “radar” of what the press is generally covering.

Having just returned from a trip to Germany and a visit to Nuremberg as part of the trip, the similarities to what was happening in Bavaria in the 30’s is unsettling. I will elaborate on this as I put together citations from the “documentation center” in Nuremberg chronicling how the Nazi’s came to power in the 30’s and used propaganda to influence the masses that attended their rallies in Nuremberg. “Rallies” which we are seeing being used of course by Trump today. In courtroom 600 where the war crimes trials were held in the 40’s (still an active courtroom today) a Christian cross is on display, a sign of the influence from the “Right” in Bavaria according to our guide.02%20-%201%20(1)

This is interesting to probably just me, yeah, they probably should shrink their comms team. I mean it’s an impossible job, they have to walk back every comment this President makes. I’m all for letting Trump just be Trump. :smirk:

Ok…someone from EPA is going to stay, not go as of today See John Konkus

Excerpt

WASHINGTON — A top aide to Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt has called off plans to leave.

Lincoln Ferguson, a senior adviser at the agency, said Wednesday that John Konkus had decided to remain in his job as deputy associate administrator for public affairs.

Konkus had been among four senior Pruitt aides whose departures were abruptly announced this spring."

Konkus previously worked as a Republican political consultant and helped on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

The EPA had said earlier in May that Konkus was leaving for the Small Business Administration. Ferguson gave no details on the decision to stay.

Mark S. Inch, Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, has resigned.

Mr. Inch told Mr. Rosenstein he was tired of the administration flouting “departmental norms.” And he complained that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had largely excluded him from major staffing, budget and policy decisions, according to three people with knowledge of the situation. Mr. Inch also felt marginalized by Mr. Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, in drafting prison reform legislation, the officials said.

An in depth piece on the Ambassador to Panama who resigned a few months ago but the background on the impact of POTUS actions and policies in foreign relations is informative and interesting, IMO. I found his comment that Trump in person is exactly like you see him on television, interesting. This reaffirms to me that Trump does have a personality quirk that is not good for the US and it really makes me wonder about politicians who can’t see it or choose to overlook it.

I was in Panama for the first time in January, it’s disheartening to me to think of the Chinese having their embassy at the entrance to the canal. ( read the piece).
