38% of Americans are avoiding Corona beer amid coronavirus outbreak, survey finds

When a Pandemic Meets a Personality Cult

So here’s the response of the Trump team and its allies to the coronavirus, at least so far: It’s actually good for America. Also, it’s a hoax perpetrated by the news media and the Democrats. Besides, it’s no big deal, and people should buy stocks. Anyway, we’ll get it all under control under the leadership of a man who doesn’t believe in science.

Mick Mulvaney says the coronavirus will probably make some schools close. But don’t worry. Also, blame the media. And the Democrats.

Preparing for Coronavirus to Strike the U.S.

The 10-year Treasury yield collapses to another record low of 1.15%, even as 2-year rate tumbles below 1%

@GracieC

Here’s the same idea…with a similar twist.

@scottcrates
I’ve never gotten the Coronavirus and I’ve never gone to a Trump rally.

But if I get the first, I’m doing the second.

Glad that Fauci’s words are filtering out to the nation…via someone who was privy to what was said in front of US House of Representatives. We need the experts please.

WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (Reuters) - A senior U.S. health official told lawmakers that the coronavirus that is spreading globally is unlikely to disappear next year and that many more cases should be expected in the United States, according to a source who attended a briefing on Friday.

Anthony Fauci, who heads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious diseases, also told House of Representatives members in a closed briefing that the United States currently does not have enough coronavirus testing resources.

Two new cases of coronavirus found in Washington state; including child | KEPR

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Health, Public Health – Seattle & King County, and Snohomish Health District, announced two new cases of COVID-19, currently classified as “presumptive positives.” A presumptive positive is a test that comes back positive at the Public Health Laboratory and is pending confirmation at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.)

The individuals reside in both King and Snohomish Counties, officials said. In King County, a woman in her 50s with confirmed travel to Daegu, South Korea is a presumptive positive. She is currently in home isolation.

In Snohomish County, a person under the age of 18 with no travel history is also a presumptive positive. He is currently in home isolation as well. That patient visited Seattle Children’s North Clinic on Monday, Feb. 24. Snohomish County Health District is working alongside the Everett Public Schools to ensure the safety of students and staff at Jackson High School, where this student attends. Everett Public Schools is taking this very seriously and in an abundance of caution, the superintendent has decided to close Jackson High School on Monday to allow three days for deep cleaning.

While the King County case is believed to be travel-related, officials don’t know how or where the new Snohomish County case was infected. Experts are working hard to find and identify how the patients were exposed as well as tracing people who might have been exposed to this patient.

Trump, Mulvaney, and Pompeo are all calling coronavirus a hoax

1/ President Donald Trump:

“The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. They’re politicizing it,” he said. “They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa. No, they can’t. They can’t count their votes. One of my people came up to me and said, ‘Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia.’ That did not work out too well. They could not do it. They tried the impeachment hoax.”

Then Trump called the coronavirus “their new hoax.”

2/ White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney:

The press was covering their hoax of the day because they thought it would bring down the president,” Mulvaney [said].

3/ Secretary of State Mike Pompeo:

“Donald Trump’s chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told the Conservative Political Action Conference [CPAC] that the coronavirus was the hoax of the day,” Lieu said. "Do you agree with Donald Trump’s chief of staff Mulvaney that the coronavirus is the hoax of the day?"

“The State Department is doing everything it can to protect American citizens around the world,” Pompeo began replying before Lieu interrupted.

"Do you believe coronavirus is a hoax?" Lieu said.

“I’m not going to comment on what others are saying,” Pompeo replied. “I’m just telling you what the Secretary of State is doing.”

"It’s not even a gotcha question," Lieu continued. "Do you believe the coronavirus is a hoax?"

“It is a gotcha moment,” Pompeo said. “It’s not useful.”

Asked again, Pompeo said: “We’re taking it seriously.”

Lieu went on to call it “shameful” that Pompeo wouldn’t say coronavirus is not a hoax, while scolding Pompeo for attending CPAC later in the day.

Oregon coronavirus infection becomes third case of unknown origin in U.S.

Man released from coronavirus quarantine can’t stop coughing during Fox News interview

A man who was freshly out of quarantine for the coronavirus has raised eyebrows after he began coughing during a Fox News segment.

Frank Wucinski and his three-year-old daughter Annabelle appeared on America’s Newsroom on Friday morning to discuss the family’s experience in quarantine in San Diego.

“Physically we’re great,” he said in the segment.

His father-in-law had died in China from COVID-19, the official name of the disease caused by the coronavirus. The family was flown back to California during the height of the outbreak, and they were promptly placed in isolation because of their contact with Wucinski’s father-in-law. When Annabelle coughed in front of medical staff, the Center for Disease Control suggested the family stay in isolation for longer.

“Fortunately from what I understand,” Wucinski said, before coughing into his hand, “It is contagious but the death rate is pretty low.”

He coughed again before saying, “Yeah, I understand the fear.”

He assured the Fox hosts that he had been tested twice for the virus, and the results came back negative both times. He paused to drink from his daughter’s water bottle, which she puts back in her mouth after he took a swig.

“The cough, probably just nerves,” Wucinski said.

Coronavirus symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties, according to the World Health Organization. It’s closely related to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and is so far responsible for 2,861 deaths worldwide. There have been 59 reported cases in the United States.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the CDC recommends avoiding touching your face, covering your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and frequent hand washing.

Which is why Twitter users are so concerned about Wucinski and his daughter.

Omg he coughs on his hand and immediately touches his kids hand which will inevitably end up in her mouth :grimacing: seriously how do adults not know how to cough into their elbow

And because you really can’t be too safe, here, again, are the CDC’s recommendations to prevent the coronavirus’ spread.

Please refrain from coughing on children — or anyone else, for that matter.

Such a hoax that at the same time…

The United States has updated its travel advice for Iran and Italy, warning people to “avoid nonessential travel” due to the increased spread of coronavirus.

It comes as Australia placed a travel ban on Iran, putting it on the same restrictions as China.

So why place a travel advice on travel to Iran and Italy if it’s just a hoax? T is totally irresponsible here (as always). But in this case the problem is, that just as Iran did not take the threat seriously, he is risking a similar outbreak in America with this sort of behaviour. Iran now has the highest number of deaths from the virus outside of China.
Here, our one case is from a NZ citizen who recently returned from Iran. Fortunately they were immediately placed in quarantine and the persons with close contact identified and isolated as well.
I imagine that our govt will be following Australia’s lead in placing similar restrictions on travel from Iran.
