Day 1134

1/ A whistleblower alleges that the Department of Health and Human Services “improperly deployed” more than a dozen workers to coronavirus quarantine locations who were “not properly trained or equipped to operate in a public health emergency situation.” The complaint alleges that the workers, who were not trained in wearing personal protective equipment, had face-to-face contact with repatriated Americans from China and were potentially exposed to coronavirus. The repatriated Americans were quarantined on military bases in California and Texas because they were considered at high risk for contracting the flu-like illness. The workers, however, returned to their normal duties, with some taking commercial flights back to their offices throughout the country. The complaint states that “appropriate steps were not taken to quarantine, monitor, or test [the workers] during their deployment and upon their return home.” (Washington Post / Wall Street Journal / New York Times)

Even before coronavirus, the market did better under Obama’s first three years than under Trump’s first three years

Good site to bookmark – a way of checking on Trump when he brags about the stock market. As you can see by the graph, even before coronavirus had an impact, the stock market did better under Obama’s first three years than it did under Trump’s first three years. I wasn’t aware of that. Now, of course, concerns about the virus are really putting a dent in Trumps’ stats. And just look at how the market kicked butt throughout Obama’s entire presidency.

BTW, did some vetting of macrotrends.net and they appear to be a respected site for gleaning financial statistics. If anyone finds differently, please let us know!

The Border Patrol Invited the Press to Watch It Blow Up a National Monument

Presented as a run-of-the mill construction project, the explosives detonated on the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in southern Arizona went off just as the chair of the Tohono O’odham Nation — a Native American tribe with deep historic and cultural ties to the area — offered testimony in Washington, D.C. regarding the Trump administration’s desecration of O’odham lands.

Trump mistakes always come back around.

Remember the Kurds?

Well, now they’re conveniently out of the way so Turkey can square off with Russia… and possibly invoke NATO Article 5 and get us involved.

Well, hell.

After Turkey’s sudden decision to let them flee to Europe, they are finding themselves stuck, as nearby Greece and Bulgaria close their borders.

Turkey frequently threatens to re-open migration routes to Europe. It does so knowing neighboring nations will not respond well.

Greece has blocked entry, shut its border & is using tear gas & sound bombs to repel refugees. Bulgaria is also under lockdown.

And in other news… just ugh.
